12-23-08 - The Throttle competed in Kemper Arena this past weekend in the Innagural Twas The Midgets Before Christmas. The track was tight with a lot of rooting and gouging. This was the opportunity to sort out Darryl Saucier's Lucas Oil Products Beast/Ilmor Racing Engines Mopar car #1. Friday... the Throttle got caught up in a pileup in the heat race, finishing last. His night was done with a broken front end. With over 80 cars there and passing points in effect, passing cars became the order of events.
Saturday, Shane started his heat in last.... ended up finishing 4th. This earned a starting spot of 7th in the B-Main..... and then winning it! Starting the feature 14th pf 20 cars, the Throttle patiently worked the bottom... then went up top in 3&4 and brought the car home 6th.
Next up for the Throttle..... the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals!
So.... what did the new car look like? Here ya go..... compliments of yours truly!

As most of you already know..... Shane Cottle announced on the JackSlash show that for 2009 he will be back in familiar territory..... piloting the Edison Motorsports 10e sprint car. He should follow much of the same schedule as before..... USAC races here in the Midwest, local tracks and big money shows. As soon as we have a schedule put together of the Throttles plans we will make this available to you.
11-09-08 - The Throttle was in action at PIR for the Silver Crown race.... then this weekend at Manzanita Speedway for the Copper World USAC Sprint car race.

Friday night, Shane timed in 16th of 62 cars. The Throttle finished 4th in his heat..... then finished 4th in the feature. This locked him into the feature for Saturday night.
In Saturday night's feature..... Shane ended up finishing the night in 9th place. This puts him in 7th place in final sprint car points.
As far as the schedule for the rest of this year.... I will update as soon as I get that information.
11-01-08 - The Throttle is in action at Perris Auto Speedway for the USAC Budweiser Oval Nationals. Thursday, Shane timed in 15th of 61 cars. He finished 5th in his heat.... 6th in the B-Main. During the feature, the Throttle got caught up in an accident in front of him and the car was pretty much toast. He finished 25th.

Saturday night had the Throttle starting the night in the 20 lap C-Main. After surviving one car hitting him, The Throttle ran out of fuel on the last lap and finished 18th. Looks like another provisional was taken.... in the feature Shane was scored with a 28th place finish.
After this weekend, the Throttle is now 7th in USAc National sprint points.
Next weekend will end the season for USAC. Manzanita Speedway will be the destination. Lets hope Shane and the Contos team can use their February win as catalyst for a good run!
10-12-08 The Throttle competed in the Gold Crown Mitget race in Granite City Illinois this weekend.
On Thursday, Shane piloted the Darryl Saucier owned 1ST. He finished 3rd in his heat race, 3rd in his B-main and ended up the night finishing 4th in the feature.
On Friday the Throttle drove the 1ST again, but problems surfaced. He finished 7th in his heat, then the engine blew in the B-main.... ending his night.
On Saturday, the Throttle piloted a back up Wilke-Pak car as teammate to Jerry Coons Jr. The Throttle finished his B-main in 4th, earning the transfer to the feature. In the feature, the Throttle stormed up from his 20th place starting position.... cracked into the top 5 before finishing 8th.
10-07-08 - Sorry it has taken a while to update the results from the Hut 100 over the weekend. I had to make sure I had the correct info before it was posted :)
The Throttle drove a third Tony Stewart Racing car. Testing out a new motor for the team. After practice, Shane was 2nd fast. In qualifying..... the Throttle was 4th fast.
During the start..... Shane was spun in 1&2 and after the 4 car melee the front end was broke on the car. The wrecker dropped off the car.... and the TSR crew went to work! All repairs made before the green.... so the Throttle started last. The car was not running right engine wise..... but still he went from last to the lead in 21 laps! At one point he had built up an 8 second lead! He lead until a red came out on lap 75. Turns out to be a bad sending unit..... so that was replaced and he was back at it! He got passed by eventual winner Cole Whitt..... dropped back to third but ended up finishing second almost 2 seconds back. A GREAT run for a car hurt from the crash.... running with a bad miss for 3/4 of the race and after front end repairs!
The Throttle will race this weekend in the Gold Crown Midget Nationals in Illinois for buddy Darryl Saucier in the 1st midget.
10-01-08 The Throttle will be in Terre Haute on Saturday racing in the Hut 100. He will be driving a THIRD car for Tony Stewart Racing! There is one catch however. This car will be a backup for Levi Jones..... so if Levi has any problems before racetime Shane is bumped out of it. This is a GREAT opportunity for the Throttle! We are all wishing him the best.... and hoping Levi has a smooth night!
It is October..... and Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Thus.... the site is pink in recognition!

9-6-08 The Throttle did double duty last night at Gas City. Shane drove the Contos sprint car to a third place finish in the heat. After starting 10th in the feature he finished 3rd.
Shane also drove a modified last night. He finished 3rd in his heat race, was running fourth in the feature when a car in front of him was in the process of spinning out... the Throttle almost spun to avoid the car but made slight contact. That car got sent to the tail.... but thinking he was spun out lobbied the track to penalize Shane for the contact.... which the track did by sending him to the tail. When he stopped to ask why he was going to the tail.... was given a cold shoulder by track officials.... who the told him to pull the car off the track. Not sure of the finish.... folks were not happy afterwards.
8-31-08 - The Throttle was in action in the Silver Crown car at Duquoin for the Ted Horn 100. This is the race in which the Throttle dominated all 100 laps last year.... did he repeat it this year?
Shane qualified 1st again this year by almost a half second over the second place qualifier. The Throttle dominated the first 75 laps of the race. After a restart from a caution, Brian Tyler slipped past and never looked back. Another late race caution didn't help as on the restart Shane was passed.... but held on for a 3rd place finish. A nice run for the Throttle.
8-22-08 - The Throttle was in action at Gas City Speedway friday evening for the $3400 to win Lewis Morgan Memorial. In the B-Main, the Throttle started towards the back.... sliced his way up to a 6th place finish. After utilizing a promoters option to start the feature, the Throttle stormed up from 22nd place starting position to finish the night 10th. Ohhh to have started up front in the feature....

Saturday the Throttle was in action for the Hoosier Sprint Nationals at Haubstadt. This $10,000 to win 50 lapper is usually a great race. However, the night was a tough one for the Contos team. After finishing 5th in the heat, this forced the Throttle to run in the B, finishing 3rd thus making the feature. In the main event Shane got spun out then tipped over on his head. Driver was OK, car was done for the night. He finished the night 21st.

Starting deep in the field, the Throttle got caught up in a red flag incident.... with the car of Chris Windom laying partly on the Contos sprinter. He was pushed back off.... but pulled off when he felt something amiss on the car. He did come back out after a later red flag.... ending the night in 17th place. Shane ended up 4th in Sprint Week Points. Shane sits 6th in national points. The next USAC sprint car race is on Aug 3 at Salem. Saturday's race was rained out at Gas City, so Sunday's at Kokomo Speedway was next up. The hometown race had it's high's and lows. The Throttle had a bad pill draw for qualifying... ending up qualifying 27th. After winning his heat, the Throttle rolled off starting 19th. The race was a tough one for the Throttle in front of the home town crowd (and yours truly sitting with the family and many friends in their usual seats for the racing). The Throttle ended up going a lap down at one point.... and ended up 17th. This finish hurt Sprint Week points.... Shane is now in 4th.. 32 pts behind Friend Dave Darland. Speaking of Dave, he won the race Sunday night.. which was the Bob Darland Memorial. Bob was Dave's dad... and to see DD get the win in his dad's memorial race was real good. Congrats Dave!

6-21-08 - The Throttle was in action at one of his "home" tracks last night.... Gas City Speedway. The Throttle started in the 3rd row in his heat and went on to win the race. In the feature, again in the third row, Shane raced his way up to 2nd... and when going for the lead was forced to the infield, preventing it from happening. Shane did a whale of a job maintaining control of the car and finished 2nd.
The Throttle will be in action tonight at the newly renovated Lawrenceburg Speedway.
